About Netsafe New Zealand (Harmful Digital Communications Act approved agency)
Netsafe is an independent non-profit organisation supporting people in New Zealand to have safe and positive online experiences. We keep people of all ages safe online by providing free support, advice and education. Last year, Netsafe received 23,213 reports of online harm, with April to June 2023 Netsafe’s busiest ever quarter for complaints assessed as falling within the scope of the Harmful Digital Communications Act. These reports span the full spectrum of online safety issues including privacy breaches, image-based abuse, scams, harmful hate speech, child sexual abuse, digital parenting challenges and school incidents.
